Barcelona keen on Rakitic
Viva Sevilla is reporting that Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitic.
The Catalans are hoping to sign a long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Xavi Hernandez and the Croatian is reportedly one of the first names on their hit-list.
Barcelona scouts have watched the 25-year-old in action on several occasions this season and they are convinced he would be a great signing for the club.
Rakitic is currently in the process of negotiating a new deal with Sevilla as his current contract is due to expire in June 2015, but his wage demands are proving to be obstacle to any agreement.
The Croatia international also want his release clause to be lowered from €40m to €25m, which is enough to suggest he is hoping for a big club move in the future.
His suitors Barcelona are in all sorts of problems after losing to Valencia last weekend, but they remain 5/4 favourites for the La Liga trophy.
Robben to sign new Bayern deal
Dutch winger Arjen Robben is expected to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich, according to Voetbal International.
His current deal expires in June 2015, and his representatives are on the verge of reaching an agreement with club chiefs on a two-year extension.
With only minor details left to be sorted out, the contract should be made official by the end of the month.
Arjen Robben, who had also played for Groningen, PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea in the past, joined Bayern Munich from Real Madrid in the summer of 2009.
He has since made 92 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 52 goals and winning two league titles in the process.
Robben also won the Champions League trophy with the Bavarians, scoring the winner in last year’s final against Borussia Dortmund.
Boca Juniors close on Perotti
Spanish daily newspaper Estadio Deportivo has learned that Boca Juniors are set to complete the signing of Sevilla winger Diego Perotti.
The Argentine giants have reportedly agreed to sign the player on loan until the end of the season with an option to extend the arrangement for another six months.
As a result, Perotti is expected to fly to Buenos Aires to undergo a medical before signing a deal with La Xeneize.
The 25-year-old has been struggling for playing time at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan of late and the club management didn’t want to stand in his way of searching for regular first team football.
Perotti was also on the radar of Werder Bremen, but ultimately opted to return to Argentina and join Boca Juniors.
It was at La Bombonera that the winger began his youth career, but he left the club without making a first team appearance.
Perotti has been at Sevilla since 2007 and has so far amassed 117 La Liga appearances, scoring 9 goals in the process.
