Barcelona are showing interest in Roma stars Miralem Pjanic and Mehdi Benatia, reports El Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalans are planning a major squad overhaul in the summer and they will have considerable funds available for new players.
And with star midfielders Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta apparently past their prime, Barcelona are weighing up a bid for Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic.
The 23-year-old has largely impressed since arriving from Lyon and he is reportedly a target for Paris Saint-Germain as well.
At the same time, the Catalans are keen on his club teammate Mehdi Benatia as they look to sign a long-term successor to captain Carles Puyol.
The Moroccan only joined Roma in the summer, but having been a key part of the defence that only conceded 12 goals in 26 league matches and also scored five goals, it is hardly surprising top European clubs are casting admiring glances his way.
Barcelona will be in action this evening as they defend a two-goal lead from the first leg against Manchester City, with the Catalans 4/7 to win the return match.
