Barcelona keeping tabs on Marseille full-back; Tevez wants January move

Barcelona keeping tabs on Marseille full-back

Barcelona are weighing up move for Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta, according to Cadena Ser.

The Spain Under-21 international only joined Marseille from Osasuna last summer, but his career in France started on the wrong foot.

The 22-year-old missed six months of action with a knee ligament injury, although he has started the new season as a first team regular.

Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola noticed young full-back while he was playing for Osasuna and he is now pondering a January bid for his services.

The player could be tempted by the return to La Liga, especially since Marseille are largely struggling to meet the expectations this term.

Despite starting his career as a midfielder, Azpilicueta is widely regarded as one of the best Spanish full-backs and he was part of Vincent del Bosque’s 30-man provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup.

Tevez wants January move

Carlos Tevez is eager to leave Manchester City in January, according to Metro.

The Argentine striker had expressed his desire to leave the club earlier this summer, but there were no clubs willing to match City’s valuation of the player.

The player’s position at Eastlands has since worsened, with Tevez starting just one Premier League game this season.

The Argentine has fallen down the pecking order behind Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli, and he is now desperate to leave the club in January.

City are reportedly prepared to cash in on the unsettled player, but their £45 million valuation could ward off any potential suitors.

Inter Milan and Corinthians have shown interest in the 27-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether they will rekindle their interest in January.

Allegri hopes for long Milan stay

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri says he is hoping to stay at San Siro for years to come.

The talented coach led Milan to Serie A title in his first season in charge of the Rossoneri and he wants even more success at San Siro.

The former Cagliari coach admits his intention is to stay at Milan for as long as possible.

“I hope so, because Milan is a great club,” Allegri told RAI.

“I’d like to stay a long time, but it always depends on the results.

“Last year we started well with the Scudetto and now we have also won the Supercoppa, and we hope for a repeat this year.”

Milan have experienced some problems at the start of the season, having failed to win any of their first four games.

However, the Rossoneri have returned to winning ways by beating Cesena at the weekend and are hoping to make it two in a row when they host Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.
