Spanish champions Barcelona have been keeping a watchful eye on the 18-year-old French sensation Ousmane Dembele, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish outlet have learned that Barcelona technical secretary Roberto Fernandez and his assistant Urbano Ortega have visited Rennes this weekend in order to watch the young forward in Ligue 1 action.
Members of the Catalan delegation were surely impressed with the 18-year-old’s performance as Dembele scored a hat-trick in his team’s 4-1 victory over Nantes.
In addition to goals, Dembele has put in another skilled performances, which has prompted Barcelona to step up their interest in the pursuit of the red-hot teenager, who has been on the radar of other European giants as well.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and even Leicester City are all believed to be interested in acquiring the services of the highly talented striker, but Barcelona are thought to be in the front seat for the signing of Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele had six goals and three assists for Rennes before the match against Nantes, but the sensational display this weekend has seen his tally rise to nine goals in the League.
The young Frenchman joined Rennes at the age of 13 and broke into the first team last November, having thus far played 17 Ligue 1 matches for his boyhood club.
