Catalan daily newspaper Sport understands that Barcelona have joined the chase for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
With his contract at Signal-Iduna Park due to expire at the end of the season, the Pole has become one of the world’s most sought-after players.
Until recently, top European clubs were reluctant to make a move on the highly rated striker as it was believed he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich, but recent reports suggest the Bavarians boss Pep Guardiola is not too keen on signing Lewandowski.
This has seen Barcelona join the race for the player’s signature, with Tata Martino hoping to sign an out-and-out striker at the earliest opportunity.
Chances are that Borussia will not be interested in negotiating a January sale, but the Catalans are likely to contact the striker over a Bosman deal in January.
Robert Lewandowski has continued his rich vein of form this season and he is 4/1 to win the top goalscorer award in Bundesliga.
