Barcelona linked with Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara

Barcelona are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to Sport. The report in the Spanish publication has claimed that Barcelona are considering a bid for Thiago in the January transfer window.

Thiago Alcantara came through the Barcelona youth system and played for the first team before moving to Bayern Munich in 2013. The Spain international joined Liverpool in the summer of 2020. The 32-year-old midfielder has had injury problems during his time at Liverpool so far and is largely a peripheral figure in the squad.

Barcelona are third in the La Liga table at the moment with 21 points from nine matches, three points behind leaders and bitter rivals Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Liverpool currently find themselves fourth in the Premier League table with 17 points from 18 games.
