Barcelona are planning a surprise move for Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez, according to the Mirror.
The Catalan club are on the lookout for a new forward who would provide back-up for star trio Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, who have eighty-three league goals between them so far this season.
Perez moved to St James’ Park from Tenerife in the summer of 2014 and has so far racked up seventy-two appearances in all competitions scoring thirteen goals, all of which have come in the Premier League.
The North East club paid just £1.5m to secure the twenty-two year old’s services and owner Mike Ashley will look to make a substantial profit should a move to the La Liga giants materialize.
Newcastle are currently one point and one place above the bottom three and can be backed at 4/7 win at relegated Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
