Ernesto Valverde has given up on Paco Alcacer and will look to sell him as early as January, Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo reports.

Former Valencia striker failed to convince the new Barcelona manager of his qualities and will not get too many chances to persuade Valverde to change his mind.

The 24-year-old Spanish forward only made two La Liga appearances this season, partly because of gastroenteritis that rules him out of the Champions League clash against Juventus and partly because of Valverde to rule him out of contention for the matches against Getafe and Eibar despite losing Ousmane Dembele to injury.

Ernesto Valverde is not convinced of Alcacer’s ability and doubts he is a Barcelona quality which – harsh as it sounds – is something that Alcacer was not given the right opportunity to contradict.

Alcacer made 20 La Liga appearances for Barcelona last season during which time he scored 6 goals.
