Setanta Sports are reporting this morning that Barcelona are looking to hi-jack Arsenal’s move for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.
There have already been several reports this summer that the 21-year-old was on the verge of a move to the Emirates, something which has been denied by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
However, the 21-year-old is still expected to be the Frenchman’s No.1 target this summer and perhaps denial of a move was a bit of gamesmanship from the Arsenal manager.
After all, with Barcelona sniffing around, it could be a massive battle to land the midfielder’s signature.
With reference to Barca’s interest, it is fascinating speculation considering they don’t have a manager at the moment.
Pep Guardiola stepped down at the end of the season and it is unclear who will be in charge at the Nou Camp, let alone which players he will look to bring in.
The Setanta Sports reports suggest that Barcelona scouts have been sent to watch the midfielder, who is set to be in action for France during Euro 2012.
This means that any interest is in the early stages, but Arsenal would certainly prefer it if they weren’t competing for the same players as Barcelona.
The Metro suggests that M’Vila’s future will be decided after Euro 2012, giving any interested parties the chance to put together a bid should they wish to.
