Barcelona make Maxime Lopez approach

The summer transfer window may be shut but the Catalan giants Barcelona are said to be working diligently on preparations for the next year.

The La Liga powerhouse are coming off from a frustrating transfer campaign which saw them lose of their biggest stars Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain and fail in multiple bids to sign Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona did bring a notable player in French youngster Ousmane Dembele and if reports from Mundo Deportivo are to be believed the Nou Camp-based club are preparing a move for another youthful prospect, Maxime Lopez.

The 19-year-old Marseille midfielder has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football and Barcelona are said to be monitoring his progress very closely.

Having already scouted Lopez of a number of occasions last season, Barcelona now approached the player’s representatives to discuss terms of a possible transfer.

The player is reportedly extremely keen to join Blaugrana as he would love to play alongside the likes of Leo Messi and Luis Suarez, but any potential deal is unlikely to happen prior to summer 2018 as Lopez only signed a contract extension with the French outfit in February.

He is contracted to Marseille until 2021.
