Various reports in Spain are suggesting that Barcelona have moved a step closer to signing Schalke hotshot Leon Goretzka.
With his contract due to expire in the summer, the Germany international has been the subject of heavy interest from top European clubs, but the Catalans seem to be leading the chase.
Goretzka reportedly prefers Barcelona to Bayern Munich and other interested clubs, and he is already in talks with the La Liga side.
The 22-year-old and his representatives reportedly met with Barcelona officials during the last international break as he was out of Germany friendlies due to injury.
It remains to be seen whether the Catalans will attempt to sign the attacking midfielder in January or recruit him on a free transfer, but Schalke will probably decide to hold on to him until the summer given the excellent start to the season.
