The Catalan giants Barcelona are showing no signs of slowing down in their efforts to sign the Liverpool maestro Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian playmaker is said to have been identified as Barcelona’s top transfer target after the Catalans failed in their attempt to land Marco Verratti from PSG whereas Coutinho is also said to be a single condition Neymar made to his superiors in order to remain at Nou Camp.
La Liga heavyweights are expected to submit a formal offer for Liverpool star although the Anfield club remains adamant Coutinho is not for sale. The Brazilian only signed the new deal last year but is still believed to have had his head turned by Barcelona interest.
According to Diario Gol, the Catalans could attempt to sweeten the possible deal by offering the Croatia international Ivan Rakitic as a counterweight.
The 29-year-old midfielder has proven his world class with Barcelona over the past couple of season. Being a versatile talent who can operate both in a midfielder position and in the final third, Rakitic could be a tempting option for Jurgen Klopp.
