According to the Mirror, Liverpool have contacted the representatives of Barcelona starlet Pedri with the aim of sounding out a potential move, prompting the Catalan club to react by offering the 18-year-old fresh terms.
The Premier League champions are facing the problem of their star attackers ageing practically at the same time. Sadio Mane has just turned 29, Mohamed Salah will get there in June, while Roberto Firmino turns 30 in October. With Divock Origi failing to impress and Diogo Jota being the only younger player to be making a difference upfront, they are on the lookout for a fresh batch of attacking talent.
At the moment, Pedri is contracted to Barcelona until 2022, but the club have the option of the extending the deal, which includes a buyout clause set at around £70 million, by further two years. If he signs the contract now on his table, the release clause will rise to close to £350 million.
Pedri has so far made 44 appearances for Barcelona this term, scoring three goals and assisting six. He also made his Spain debut last month and now has three senior international caps to his name.
