The Catalan giants Barcelona have reportedly initiated negotiations with the Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande over the potential move for the former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho.
Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte has learned that the talks are at an early stage but claim that Barcelona representatives have made it clear they are keen to acquire the services of the Brazilian international.
It is being suggested that Barcelona have moved forward at the suggestion of Neymar, who wants to see Paulinho and another Brazil teammate Lucas Lima join him at Camp Nou.
Barcelona director of football Raul Sannllehi has approached Paulinho’s representative Giuliano Bertolucci in attempt to sign the player who is also wanted by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old central midfielder has made 12 Chinese Super League appearances this season. He scored four goals and provided two assists during that time.
Paulinho moved to China back in 2015 after two largely disappointing seasons in the English top tier.
