Barcelona have been a truly great team for around 15 years now, often the best on the planet, playing some dazzling football indeed. Yet, every now and then, they have been known to show a dark side of their character, particularly when things aren’t going their way.
During the Supercopa de Espana semi-final which they went on to lose at the hands of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba provoked Atletico starlet Joao Felix by needlessly poking him in the face with his finger. The youngster quite understandably slapped Alba’s hand away in an angry fashion, which apparently prompted six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi not to allow Felix to leave the scene and to try and intimidate the youngster further. As expected, the usual culprits in this type of behaviour – Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, and of course, Luis Suarez, immediately joined the fray, which eventually forced several Atletico players to step in and defend their youngster.
