Having seen all of their efforts to reunite with former graduate and now Arsenal star Hector Bellerin fall short and fail, Barcelona have now directed their attention to alternative solutions for the right-back position.
Portugal daily Record reports that the Catalans have already identified Benfica’s Nelson Semedo as their top transfer target, also claiming that Barcelona are readying a €30 million bid for the 23-year-old Portuguese.
Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez is thought to be personally involved in a possible transfer, having already contacted his counterparts from Portugal to publicly declare interest in the player who is also eyed by Manchester United among other clubs.
Nelson Semedo is thought to have a €50 million release clause in his contract which should not be too big of a problem for Barcelona.
the Portuguese right-back is represented by Jorge Mendes, a close friend of Mourinho’s and that is one aspect that might worry the Catalanas in their efforts to land the player.
In addition to Semedo, Barcelona have listed a couple of names as Hector Bellerin alternatives, namely Djibril Sidibe from AS Monaco, Valencia’s Cancelo or Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.
