La Liga leaders Barcelona are said to be preparing a double raid on a promising Red Bull Leipzig duo Timo Werner and Dayot Upamecano.
The Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo is reporting that technical director of the Catalan giants Robert Fernandez is personally conducting an assault on RB Leipzig duo who have been watched in action last weekend in Leipzig’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.
Barcelona regard Werner and Upamecano as possible long-term replacements for Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique, respectively. The experienced first-team stars are both 30 years of age and are not getting any younger so Ernesto Valverde is keen to inject some fresh blood to his squad.
Timo Werner has emerged as one of the hottest attacking prospects in European football over the past 12 months whereas the French youngster Upamecano is also gaining plenty of interest from around the continent.
The 19-year-old defender is impressing with his Bundesliga displays and already has Manchester United and AC Milan hot on his trail.
