Barcelona ready to raid Valencia for Jordi Alba

Barcelona are pondering the signing of Valencia full-back Jordi Alba, Catalan daily Sport reveals.

The Catalans are hoping to sign a new left-back in January and have now set their sights on the Valencia defender.

With Eric Abidal likely to leave the club at the end of the season, and Maxwell and Adriano not considered to have the required quality, Pep Guardiola wants Jordi Alba to solve the problematic position.

The 22-year-old has really exploded this season, with impressive performances for Valencia earning him a call up to the Spain national team.

Alba has been offered a new contract at Mestalla, but he has delayed contract talks after hearing of interest from big European sides.

Barcelona could face a stiff competition from Manchester United for the player’s signature, as the Red Devils are also keen.
