Spanish giants Barcelona offered €140 million for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window, according to Onda Cero’s show El Transistor.
The Catalans made a check on several high-profile players as they searched for a successor to Neymar before eventually signing Ousmane Dembele.
According to reports, Antoine Griezman was one of the forwards on their hit-list, and Barcelona even offered €140 million for his services.
However, Atletico Madrid decided to reject the proposal due to their transfer ban preventing them from signing a replacement.
Los Colchoneros have since increased Griezmann’s release clause to €200 million, as they clearly expect their league rivals to return for the Frenchman.
