Barcelona vice-president Josep Bartomeu has all but ruled out a swoop for star Brazilian attacker Neymar.

The Catalans were beaten to the La Liga title by Real Madrid, while they were eliminated from the Champions League by Chelsea.

But Bartomeu feels the core of their squad is already strong enough, and will return to full strength once injured players have made full recoveries.

Bartomeu said Santos’ Neymar, who is continually being linked with a move to Barcelona, was unlikely to make the switch to Camp Nou.

“Could Neymar join us this summer? He has a contract with Santos until 2014. He will stay at his club,” Bartomeu told RAC1.

“We’ve been working on transfers for months, but the final decisions will only be made from Monday on.

“We already have a great team and injured players will come back. We think we don’t need many transfers, but coaches decide whether we need any reinforcements.”
