Barcelona set to launch bid for AC Milan star midfielder

Barcelona are set to launch a shock transfer bid for AC Milan star Andrea Pirlo according to Sky Italia.

Pirlo is said to be unsettled at the San Siro and considering his future in Milan. New Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of the Italian due to the similar style of play which the Spaniard himself had when he was a player.

Pirlo, 29, is said to be a fan favourite at the San Siro and many would be unhappy to see the Italian go. Pirlo is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world at the moment and would fit into the role of deep-seated play-maker at Barcelona easily.

Pirlo is said to be unhappy about the signing of Mathieu Flamini and the contract he received, as well as the large financial improvements many of his team-mates have seen on their contracts.

Sky Italia reports that Guardiola will look to build a team around the defensive midfielder and will launch a huge transfer bid to bring him to the Nou Camp.
