Lionel Messi will turn 32 this summer and he is still doing unimaginable things at Barcelona. In La Liga this season he is already at 32 goals and 12 assists and there are still eight league matches until the season finishes. That is why Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists the club will offer a new contract to La Pulga.
“We would like to renew his contract, that’s the idea,” Bartomeu said. “He is young – you can see that [in his performances] – and he still has two years on his deal. He’s always improving, always innovating. I believe he still has many years in front of him and in the coming months we will sit down with him so that he has many more years at Barcelona”, the club president said in an interview with ESPN.
Messi’s performances have been nothing short of spectacular and it seems like he is only getting better. With a new contract, the Argentine should see another well deserved pay rise.
