Barcelona have been surprising their fans this January transfer window. On the last day of the open market, they signed Trincao from Braga for some 30 million euros, but then they went to do even more business and sign Palmeiras midfielder. His name is Matheus Fernandes and Barcelona have signed him for seven million plus another three in potential add-ons.
But it is not even close that simple. Barca actually signed him for 1 July 2020, so ultimately next season, as they did with Trincao as well. However, Trincao was to remain at Braga, whilst Matheus was actually loaned to Real Valladolid, the La Liga side owned by Ronaldo. This was a surprise that meant Matheus Fernandes has basically ended his time at Palmeiras.
Barcelon will get a player in the summer that has been playing in Spain for six months already and will therefore have a better idea what to do with him before the start of the new campaign.
