Barcelona youngster Sergi Samper has rejected an opportunity to join Arsenal, El Mundo Deportivo has learned.
Having earlier signed Jon Miquel Toral and Hector Bellerin from Barcelona, the Gunners have recently made a move on another product of the famous La Masia.
Arsene Wenger was so determined to lure the 19-year-old to the Emirates that he was even prepared to match the €12 million release clause, but the player and his family have rejected the opportunity to move to North London.
Namely, Samper dreams of making the grade at Camp Nou and he has been informed by new boss Luis Enrique that he will soon get the opportunity to join the senior set-up.
The highly rated midfielder made a total of 40 appearances for Barcelona B last season, while he has been in very good form at the start of the new campaign.
Samper is now regarded as one of the hottest prospects at the club and it appears that he won’t be leaving the Catalans any time soon.
