Following their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday, Barcelona have started the process of identifying a suitable replacement for Ronald Koeman as the head coach, according to Fabrizio Romano. The process is expected to take several days, with every member of the board involved in talks with many different candidates.
Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez in the name mostly mentioned in the press in that aspect in the last couple of days, along with Roberto Martinez. As for Xavi, Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has openly advised his former teammate to wait a while, believing the situation at the Catalan club to be very bad at the moment. Meanwhile, Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has voiced his opinion that sacking Koeman wouldn’t solve anything at the moment.
However, there’s no denying that the situation at the club is very serious. Barcelona lost both of their Champions League matches so far, having been thoroughly outplayed and beaten 0-3 at home by Bayern Munich in the opening round.
