Barcelona are seriously considering a summer bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez, reports El Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalans squad are set to undergo major changes in the summer and with Alex Song likely to leave, they need reinforcements in central midfield and the heart of defence.
And considering that Bayern’s Javi Martinez has excelled in both roles, it is hardly surprising Barcelona are keen on recruiting the Spain international.
The Catalans failed to sign the highly rated footballer last summer as he opted to join Bayern Munich, but they are now ready to splash the cash on his services.
However, with the Bavarians paying €40 million for him just a year ago, it is believed it would take at least €35 million to prize him away from Alianz Arena.
Barcelona still hope to revive their La Liga title bid, and the Catalans have been made 1/14 favourites to defeat Getafe on Saturday.
