Having sold Neymar to PSG in a world-record deal, Barcelona are now being heavily linked with a move for a player that will co me as direct replacement for the Brazilian superstar.
Plenty of names have been thrown into the mix by the media, but the latest reports emerging from the French publication L’Equipe are suggesting that the Catalans have stepped up the chase for Nice starlet Jean-Michael Seri.
The 26-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder is regarded as a cheaper and more affordable alternative for Liverpool maestro Coutinho, who is expected to remain at Anfield despite heavy pressure coming from the Barcelona camp.
Jean-Michael Seri has enjoyed a sizzling season with the French outfit last term. Nice are closing on a Champions League spot and Seri remains one of the most influential players in his team.
During the past two seasons in Nice he played 72 Ligue 1 matches and scored 10 goals.
L’Equipe suggest Seri would cost £36 million which is said to be the value of his release clause the Catalans will have no problem meeting.
