Barcelona target makes a switch to Roma

Spanish defender Jose Angel Valdes has completed a switch from Sporting Gijon to Roma, the Spanish club have confirmed.

The La Liga outfit revealed on their official website that the full-back had traveled to Rome ahead of signing a long-term deal with the Serie A club.

The 21-year-old was a target for Barcelona, but he recently hinted that he preferred Roma to the Catalans because of the prospect of first team football.

The promising left-back arrives to Olimpico as a replacement for John Arne Riise, who has recently completed his move to Fulham.

Jose Angel Valdes is a product of Sporting Gijon youth academy and has represented at Under-20 and Under-21 level.
