Barcelona target Yohan Cabaye; Van der Vaart nearing Tottenham exit

Barcelona target Yohan Cabaye

Barcelona are pondering a shock bid for Newcastle playmaker Yohan Cabaye, according to The Sun.

The Catalans are looking to add another central midfielder to the squad after Seydou Keita opted against renewing his contract at Camp Nou.

The Sun now claims that Barcelona have set their sights on Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

The French international joined the Magpies in a €5 million transfer from Lille last summer, and he immediately developed into a key player at St James Park.

Cabaye’s solid midfield showings helped Newcastle achieve a 5th-place finish, while the player further established his reputation with impressive performances at the Euro 2012.

The Frenchman is clearly ready for a big club move, but it is highly unlikely the Magpies will agree to sell one of their star players.

Nonetheless, the reported interest from Barcelona could unsettle the player and make the job easier for the Catalans.

Van der Vaart nearing Tottenham exit

Dutch playmaker Rafael van der Vaart is set to leave White Hart Lane this summer, London Evening Standard has revealed.

The experienced midfielder has two years left on his deal with Spurs, but new boss Andre Villas-Boas is prepared to cash in on him in order to raise funds for new signings.

Tottenham have already signed Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim, who is expected to replace Van der Vaart in the starting line-up.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of interest from his former club Hamburger and Schalke of late, and the return to Bundesliga looks likely at the moment.

Van der Vaart is currently earning around £70,000 per week at Tottenham, but that shouldn’t be a problem for rich Bundesliga clubs.

It is believed that Tottenham would require around £11 million for their star midfielder, which is £3 million more than what they paid for him in the summer of 2010.

The Dutch midfielder clearly has a lot to offer at the biggest stage and a club that win the race for his signature will get a real gem of a player.

Dinamo Moscow snatch Eredivisie star

Dinamo Moscow have completed the signing of midfielder Otman Bakkal from PSV Eindhoven.

The experienced midfielder arrives to Russia as a free agent after his contract with the Dutch giants expired.

The Russian Premier League side announced the deal on their official website, stating that the player has signed a three-year contract with the club.

“I was convinced that Dynamo is a very serious club from my very first contact with their representatives,” Bakkal told club’s official website.

“And what I’ve seen here on arrival lived up to my expectations completely.”

“Dynamo are ambitious team and I was completely satisfied with their proposal. I’m happy to become a part of such a great club.”

The 27-year-old has long been regarded as one of the best midfielders in Dutch Eredivisie, but PSV surprisingly farmed the player on loan to Feyenoord last summer.

Bakkal largely impressed playing for the De Kuyp outfit last season, scoring 9 goals in 29 Eredivisie appearances.

The former Dutch international has been showing a lot of potential playing for different Eredivisie sides, although Dinamo will be his first foreign club.
