Barcelona are unlikely to continue their pursuit of Antonio Rudiger for this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The reasons, as Romano claims, are the agreement the Catalan club have reached with Ronald Araujo over a new contract, and the one they made with Rudiger’s Chelsea teammate Andreas Christensen, who will move to the Camp Nou when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.
Barcelona were said to be keen on three Chelsea defenders this summer, all of whom were supposed to be out of contract in less than three months. However, Cesar Azpilicueta is now likely to stay put after an automatic extension of his contract kicked into action.
Christensen will leave on the other hand, and it still seems the likeliest outcome for Rudiger as well, with Chelsea currently unable to offer their players new deals.
Apart from Barcelona, Rudiger has been linked with Bayern Munich, who have since ruled themselves out of the race. Real Madrid and Juventus are still options.
