Barcelona to go after Alaba?

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, La Liga champions Barcelona could be set to make a surprise bid for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba. The belief is that Barca are very interested in signing a left back during the summer transfer window, and with Alaba having just two years left on his current contract with Bayern, it could well be the perfect fit.

There have been several proposed moves for Alaba in the last few years that have fallen through, but if Barca are willing to put in the kind of bid that makes Bayern sit up and take notice, then they could be in business in a big way.

The Spanish giants are reacting to the movement over at the Bernabeu, with Real already bringing in a handful of high profile stars this summer.

It goes without saying, but Alaba would serve as a huge sign of intent prior to the new campaign getting underway.
