According to a recent report from Mirror, Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman wants the club to pursue Georginio Wijnaldum and Eric Garcia in January.
Barca were known to be interested in both men during the summer but couldn’t get either deal over the finish line, and now, their eyes are turning towards the January transfer window – although they could move that back to next summer.
Wijnaldum is still considered to be an important piece of the puzzle at Anfield whereas Garcia is clearly desperate to make his way back over to the Nou Camp. Barca’s start to the season indicates that Koeman really does need some reinforcements, but either way, this is going to be a gradual process for Barcelona.
They’re preparing for Lionel Messi to leave in 2021 and they have to plan ahead, because if they don’t, they could wind up enduring a sustained collapse both domestically and in Europe.
