Catalan super club Barcelona have a thing for Brazilian wingers, and really, who can blame them? Unfortunately they sold the best one in the world, which is somewhat of a shame, and now their Neymar-shaped hole needs filling with more South American flair.
Philippe Coutinho is the man they want in Catalonia, but Liverpool have decided than they quite like Brazilian wingers too. That only really leaves PSG’s Lucas Moura and Chelsea’s Willian, and it is the latter that Barca will opt for, whilst letting out a sad little sigh, if they can’t get Coutinho.
According to the Guardian though, manager Ernesto Valverde loves all things Willian, but he isn’t quite to the level of the departed Neymar. The winger has just one goal and one assist in the Premier League this season, despite appearing in all 14 of Chelsea’s games.
Admittedly he has been used as a substitute for the majority of these games, but if he can’t make it into Antonio Conte’s team then how will he force his way into a Barcelona side that is stacked with talent? It is a perplexing potential move, but with Liverpool valuing Coutinho at €200m it is little surprise that the Catalan side is looking elsewhere.
