Barcelona to move for Joao Felix?

Barcelona are aware that signing their primary attacking target for this summer – Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland – will be difficult considering the competition for his signature, and according to Goal.com (via Sport), they’re prepared to move on to Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix as their first alternative.

Not that signing Felix is likely to be easy – the Portuguese forward is Atletico’s record signing, having arrived from Benfica in the summer of 2019 for more than €120 million. However, the fact remains that the 22-year-old, though still obviously young, hasn’t had the impact such a huge fee warranted under Diego Simeone. Many believe that Simeone’s notoriously defensive style is actually preventing Felix from developing and unleashing his full potential. Therefore, Barcelona are prepared to offer him what they believe is the right stage for him, providing they can find an agreement with Atletico.

Felix’s current contract still has over four years left to run.
