Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in very hot water with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta following the latest bout of indiscipline which eventually cost him the captain’s armband, as well as a place in the team to face West Ham on Wednesday.
Aubameyang was allowed to go to France last week under the condition of returning on the same day, which he failed to do. He was consequently told not to report for team training the following day, and it seems Arteta and the club hierarchy have had enough.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are set to lose Sergio Aguero. The former Manchester City striker has a heart condition which is expected to force him into retirement from the professional game altogether, and the Blaugrana will need a replacement. To that end, as reported by the Independent, they are considering a move for Aubameyang, though with the Gabonese earning over £200,000 per week and apparently unwilling to take a pay-cut, a deal won’t be easy to make.
Another option for the Catalans would be Edinson Cavani, and it is believed the Uruguayan veteran would be easier to get due to the abundance of attacking options at Manchester United.
