According to the Metro, Barcelona are weighing up the possibility of making a move for Chelsea’s David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic.
New boss at the Nou Camp Tito Vilanova is set to strengthen his squad as they look to regain their La Liga title from Real Madrid.
With Carles Puyol now 34 and Eric Abidal recovering from a liver transplant, Barcelona may feel they need to strengthen their back four.
Vilanova takes charge from Pep Guardiola who earned legendary status at the Nou Camp and he will know he must bring in the right personal in the transfer window to get the season off to a flyer and receive full backing from the fans.
Luiz and Ivanovic helped Chelsea to triumph in the Champions League last season and a move to the Spanish giants is sure to be one that would be tough to turn down.
With Gary Cahill and John Terry likely to be the first choice centre-back pairing both these players could think this is the perfect time to move on. Luiz especially as Ivanovic can also play at full-back.
The Brazilian seems to suit Barcelona’s way of playing as he is extremely confident on the ball. Ivanovic is the strong, commanding defender they may require if Puyol is not at his best.
Keep an eye on this one.
