According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are set to slap a €400 million release clause onto the head of Frenkie de Jong. The Ajax sensation’s move to the Nou Camp has now been confirmed, as he prepares to make the transition over to Spanish football in the summer. This transfer saga has been ongoing ever since the summer, with Barcelona making it known for quite some time that de Jong was at the top of their hit list.

This is a move that many are praising Barca for, especially when it comes to the release clause. While it may seem like a pretty steep fee it’s something that Frenkie certainly warrants, and given that he’s still so young, it should come as no surprise for fans to learn that he’s an integral part of the club’s plans moving forward.

de Jong, who is a Netherlands international, has been with Ajax since back in 2015 when he made the jump over from Willem II.
