Barcelona haven’t signed a striker to replace Luis Suarez in the January transfer window, with the 33-year-old former Liverpool man likely to be out for the rest of the season. However, their latest setback, the complete hamstring tear suffered by Ousmane Dembele, has now dealt them a fresh blow.
The winger is also set to miss the rest of the season, and they now have Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and 17-year-old Ansu Fati as their only fit attacking players.
But although the transfer window is now closed, Marca report that there actually is a possibility for the Catalan club to sign a new player to help them in this time of crisis. The outlet quotes ‘Article 124.3, of the regulations’ in saying that a club may sign a player even outside of a regular transfer window to replace an injured one, providing the injury is serious enough to keep its victim out for no less than five months. And even then, the new player could only come from within Spain.
