According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Spanish giants Barcelona are set to go in search of a back up left back for Jordi Alba during the summer transfer window. Barca were finally able to tie Alba down to a brand new contract, which saw a €500 million release clause be added to his deal. The 29 year old is set to remain at the Nou Camp until 2024, but that doesn’t mean Barcelona don’t still want some insurance.
A good young left back for Alba to mentor can only be a good thing, as it’ll create healthy competition in the battle for starting places. Alba first joined Barca back in 2012, and after months of speculation over his future, he was finally able to silence the doubters by signing on the dotted line. Alberto Moreno, Nacho Monreal and Filipe Luis have all been discussed as potential back ups, but nothing has been set in stone just yet.
