Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has moved to reveal that the Catalans attempted to recruit PSG playmaker Marco Verratti last summer.
It is no secret that the La Liga giants have been closely following the Italian over the last few years, but they have so far failed to lure him to Camp Nou.
Former Barcelona star Xavi is also a big fan of the Italy international and he claims the Catalans tried to sign the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
“Verratti? I would have liked to see him at Barça,“ Xavi told Radio Monte Carlo.
“They tried to sign him last summer, but PSG did well to keep him. He is a player that I love, technically he has everything.”
Paris Saint-Germain have really done well to persuade Verratti to stay in spite of the heavy interest from abroad, and it remains to be seen whether the situation will change in the future.
The Italian is now enjoying his sixth season at Parc des Princes, and he could look for a new challenge in the future.
