Barcelona’s performance in their 5-0 win at Basel last night must have been one of the best displays of football by any team at this level for some time.
The stats provide fascinating reading. Barcelona had a remarkable 76.7% of the possession. I can’t remember seeing a game where one team have dominated the ball so much.
They had nineteen shots, twelve of which were on target. That is a much higher poportion than we usually see.
The final statistic, which is probably the most impressive, is that 89.9% of the passes made by a Barcelona player found one of his team-mates.
This was a remarkable performance and was a very impressive reply to the messages sent by Manchester United and Arsenal on the previous night.
