Real Madrid is already destroying everyone else in La Liga; whether or not they continue to gel won’t separate them even more because they already have separated themselves. It’s just that Barcelona is sooooo good that it doesn’t matter how much better Real is than the 3rd and 4th placed teams – Barcelona is still the best team no matter how much Real beats up on everyone else.

Has anyone else noticed, Barcelona wins most of their La Liga games at like 60% of their ability going on cruise control. They step it up big time when they need to – the way they relentlessly attacked Real Madrid with speed instead of just patiently building was unlike the way they’ve played just about any other game this season. Barca wins most of their games comfortably at considerably less than their best, as if they don’t want to over exert themselves, whereas Real enjoys beating up on people and tries their hardest every game. This also helps Barca in the Champions League because teams like Chelsea and Arsenal and ManU are going to war each week in a very physical league, whereas Barca is able to manage themselves.

That’s right Brad, it will be even more two-horse and thats not what we need.

We need the phase that’s crept into the EPL (the past two seasons) to cross over to La Liga.

@Thabo, you’re right about Real Madrid’s team needing to gel and get chemistry going. Once they do though, I think La Liga will be even more two horse race.

Why are you guys still debating? Barcelona destroyed Real Madrid so the they are obviously the better team and Messi is definitely the better player. And don’t give me this about how much better messi’s supporting cast is. Real Madrid has a great team around Ronaldo, they just need time to gel and get to know each other and play as a team.

Messi – Ronaldo If you take away the goals scored by Ronaldo of penalties and free kicks his numbers are not so great, wile Messi’s goals are at the end of a dash against three and five defenders.
Messi does not “dive” every time someone blows air against him, Messi does not stomp and cries if he misses, and most of all Messi does not shuffles his feet to confuse, he just goes by with speed and incredible ball control.
There is no comparing these two, one is great, the other is just phenomenal.

He will run all the way across the pitch , its in his nature really.

The epl is alot more physical, and after seasons playing in england, dont be so sure they could best chelsea and man utd, even after such an amazing performance the other night. Dont forget ronaldo already played in the epl, accomplished everything possible, and is now trying to conquer a new frontier, messi has been there for a while

Barca is a better team by far in terms of how effective they play together…do they have better talent? In some cases yes, in some no. These teams are evenly matched to say one has an upperhand over the other. The only upper-hand is Barca’s who has played together longer.
