I thought that the title race in La Liga would be a four way battle between Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal and Valencia.
Before the weekend, those four teams, and Sevilla in fifth place, had started to open up a bit of a gap on the rest of the league.
Barcelona continued their sublime form with a 4-1 win at improving Malaga, Villarreal kept up their challenge with a 4-1 win at struggling Bilbao and Real Madrid slipped up a little by leaving mid-table Almeria with just a point.
Having said that, the next two teams in the race before the weekend both came totally unstuck. Valencia went down 4-2 at home to a pretty poor Racing Santander side and Sevilla went down 3-2 at another struggling side, Vallodolid.
Do the results of this weekend mean that La Liga is now a three horse race?
