Barcelona and Juventus are slowly getting used to facing each other in the UEFA Champions League, with the Catalans recording a 3-1 win in the 2014/2015 final, before the Bianconeri secured a 3-0 aggregate triumph in last year’s quarter-finals.

This is the first time they will be squaring off in the group stage, but that is unlikely to make Tuesday’s encounter any less interesting.

Team News

Rafinha Alcantara and Paco Alcacer are unavailable for selection, whereas Ernesto Valverde decided to leave out Arda Turan, Lucas Digne, Aleix Vidal and Thomas Vermaelen.

After a promising debut in the 5-0 hammering of Espanyol, summer recruit Ousmane Dembele is tipped to start alongside Leo Messi and Luis Suarez up front.

Barcelona probable starting line-up (4-3-3): ter Stegen – Semedo, Pique, Umtiti, Alba – Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta – Messi, Suarez, Dembele.

Max Allegri left Giorgio Chiellini and Mario Mandzukic out of the squad after the duo failed to recover from their respective injuries, whereas Claudio Marchisio, Marko Pjaca and Sami Khedira remain in the infirmary.

Juan Cuadrado is banned, Benedikt Howedes is still not ready to feature, but Alex Sandro returns after recovering from a bout of flu.

Juventus probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Buffon – Barzagli, Benatia, Rugani, Alex Sandro –  Pjanic, Matuidi – Douglas Costa, Dybala, Sturaro – Higuain.
