Barcelona are looking to close an ’emergency’ deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal in January, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional. It seems the La Liga giants are concerned with the lack of attacking options with Sergio Aguero ruled out for at least three months at the moment.
Aubameyang was linked with Barcelona in the past, when his future at Arsenal seemed in great doubt, but those reports died out for a while after he signed a new three-year contract in September last year.
Having struggled to replicate his previous exploits last season, the 32-year-old forward has been on fine form this term, scoring seven goals in 10 appearances in all competitions so far. It’s not very likely that the Gunners, who are still facing an uphill task to catch up with the teams closer to the top of the Premier League table, will want to contemplate parting ways with their captain halfway through the campaign.
