According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been linked with a somewhat surprising move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente. The former Spain international has been with Spurs since 2017 when he made the jump over from Swansea City, with Barca sniffing around for a back up forward. Llorente would be filling in the gap left by Munir El Haddadi, who recently made the jump over to fellow La Liga side Sevilla.
Athletic Bilbao are also in the running to sign him, which wouldn’t be the most surprising possibility in the world. Llorente was with Bilbao for seven years in his youth before returning to the club for a nine year spell, during which time he made well over 300 appearances.
Llorente hasn’t quite been able to hit the ground running as he was hoping to with Spurs, but at the age of 33, he’s still been able to last at the highest level much longer than most fans probably would’ve anticipated.
