According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Spanish giants Barcelona put forward an approach to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura prior to the closure of the summer transfer window. They saw him as an alternative to Neymar in the wake of the PSG forward not signing on the dotted line for Barca, but in the end, the La Liga champions were said to be a bit put off by the fact that Spurs valued him at around £50 million.
Moura had a truly phenomenal end to the campaign with Tottenham, even to the point where he single handedly guided them into the UEFA Champions League final courtesy of his goals against Ajax in the semi-final.
Given the current state of Tottenham’s squad it seems bizarre to consider the fact that they would’ve been okay with Moura slipping through their fingers, but now, it doesn’t matter either way – because he’ll be remaining on the books in North London for quite some time to come.
