Barcelona have made a check on FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.
It is no secret Gerardo Martino is hoping to sign an out-an-out striker, as he wants to add a new dimension to the attack.
And it appears that Jackson Martinez is one of the first names on the hit-list, with the club scouts watching the Colombian on regular basis.
The 27-year-old has been scoring goals for fun ever since he joined the Dragons from Chiapas, notching 34 goals in 40 league appearances.
He has in turn been linked with a host of Europe’s high-profile clubs, but his €40 million release clause has proved to be obstacle to any deal.
Barcelona have suffered a major blow some two weeks back as superstar Lionel Messi picked up a hamstring injury that will see him miss next two months of action, but the Catalans remain 1/3 favourites for the league title.
