Catalan newspaper Sport understands that La Liga champions Barcelona appear to be showing interest in Benfica full-back Alex Grimaldo.
The Catalans had no choice but to sell one of their hottest prospects last January as he rejected a new contract offer from the club, and the left-back quickly managed to prove his worth at Estadio da Luz.
Grimaldo went on to nail down a regular starting berth, putting in some very good performances in Primeira Liga and the Champions League.
This has seen Manchester City and Juventus express interest in signing the talented footballer, with Benfica bracing for January proposals.
However, Sport claims that Barcelona officials are closely monitoring the situation as they are not ready to rule out bringing Grimaldo back to Camp Nou.
The Catalans seem to have failed to include a buy-back clause when they decided to sell the youngster to Benfica and they could now live to regret the decision.
