Barcelona will not be increasing their offer for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Sport.
The Catalan club tried to close the deal last month, but apparently offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich have made de Ligt and Mino Raiola, his agent, think hard. The player and his representatives are of the opinion that his value has risen significantly in the last 30 days, and they are holding out for the highest bidder.
It is still believed that de Ligt prefers Barcelona to other potential destinations, but the Blaugrana now want him to show it through his actions and accept the terms which are the same as those that have brought Frenkie de Jong to the Camp Nou.
A few days ago, de Ligt confirmed that there were negotiations afoot, but also that nothing was agreed yet. Barcelona have now accepted that the deal isn’t done and anything can happen, but they still feel that the effort they’ve already made is sufficient.
